The Recoil Lite is a stripped down version of our larger, standard Recoil kit. The Recoil Lite is compatible with the Canon C300/100/500, RED Scarlet and Epic cameras. In this Recoil concept, the camera sits directly on your shoulder like a typical ENG Camera. The Recoil Lite starts with our Gorilla Baseplate, which attaches to the camera with 3/8” 16 and ¼” 20 screws*. The Gorilla Baseplate features 15mm diameter, 60mm spaced threaded rod holes in the front of the plate that allow users to mount a follow focus, lens support or other accessories in front of the camera. The Gorilla Baseplate is not compatible for matte box use unless you have a height adjustable matte box**.

Unique to the Recoil Lite (and Recoil) is the use of the Zacuto Q-Release in mounting our Shoulder Pad. The Q-release allows you to mount the shoulder pad directly underneath the camera and then quick release the shoulder pad from the rig by flipping the two levers on the side. This gives you two things; the ability to quickly attach the rig to a tripod and vice versa, and the ability to have the camera sit directly on your shoulder eliminating the front heaviness.

The Recoil Lite requires the use of an EVF or other external monitor. We recommend using the Z-Finder EVF Pro and the EVF Rod Mount to mount the EVF to the Recoil Lite. With the Recoil Lite, the operator can hold onto the 15mm rods coming off the front of the Gorilla Baseplate for balance. If you prefer lower handgrips - check out the full Recoil.

The Recoil Lite is a great kit for run & gun style or all day shooting with the Canon C300/100/500, Epic or Scarlet. It is an extremely versatile kit.

* NOTE: The screw hole pattern on the Gorilla Baseplate is ¼” 20, ¼” 20, 3/8” 16, 3/8” 16. The first ¼” 20 and 3/8”16 screw holes are for mounting the C300/100/500. The last ¼” 20 and 3/8”16 screw holes are for mounting the Epic or Scarlet. The plate will ship with one ¼” 20 screw and one 3/8” 16 screw.

** NOTE: The Gorilla Baseplate has a non-standard rod to lens height, only some adjustable matte boxes will work. The standard is 85mm. The lens of the Epic/Scarlet to center of 15mm rods on the Gorilla Baseplate is 106mm. The lens of the C300 to center of 15mm rods is 88mm. All lightweight spaced, rod mounted follow focuses should be compatible.

Z-Finder EVF Pro

The Zacuto Electronic Viewfinder (EVF) is a 3.2” high resolution monitor to be used in conjunction with any Z-Finder model. The EVF is compatible with all cameras that have an HDMI output, including most DSLRs, the Panasonic AF-100, Sony F3, RED ONE, RED Scarlet and RED Epic. The EVF is compatible with the Blackmagic Camera (or other camera with no HDMI output) with use of the Blackmagic HD-SDI to HDMI mini converter. The EVF allows you to operate with your camera "in-line" with your rod system and an offset viewfinder in front of your eye. We believe, this traditional film camera and ENG camera style of shooting is the most stable and comfortable. Now we can work this way with any camera! The EVF enhances the stability of any set up, gives you better resolution and focus ability, allows you to get your eye where it most comfortably needs to be, enables low mode shooting, and shortens a shoulder mounted camera package. With an external viewfinder, you’re no longer trapped behind the back of your camera. You can have your camera on a dolly or crane or in a car or anywhere and have the EVF in your hand.

The Z-Finder EVF Pro is a complete EVF with diopter. It includes the EVF Flip model and an optical viewfinder which can snap onto the frame of the monitor and also flip up 180 degrees. The optical viewfinder contains high quality 2.5x optics with anti-fog shields and a diopter. It also includes three extender frames. The Z-Finder Extender Frames allow you to further adjust the focal point of the Z-Finder by semi-permanently stacking the frames via a snap fit onto the skirt of the Z-Finder until the LCD screen is in focus for you. You can then dial in closer with the diopter wheel.

EVF Rod Mount

The EVF Rod Mount attaches your Zacuto EVF to any 15mm rod. This is perfect if you want to connect your EVF Mount to another manufacturer’s rig or to a Zacuto Universal Baseplate when using a video camera such as the AF-100, Sony F3, or FS100. The combination of our Z-mount Zwivel 360 degree connector at the corner and our tilt and pan mount at the top give you unlimited options for placing your EVF. The Zicro Mini allows you to quickly release your EVF from the EVF Rod mount with a flip of the lever. The horizontal and vertical rod ends are threaded female so rod extensions can be used for both distance and height. This truly is a versatile mount enabling the user to place their EVF exactly where it needs to be.

36" Standard to Standard HDMI Cable

36" Standard to Standard (big to big) HDMI Cable. This cable has two regular HDMI heavy duty swivable cable heads. It can be set at right angles in all directions to avoid strain on the cable. Z-Focus Extender

The Z-Focus Extender is used to extend the distance between the focus knob and gear housing on any Zacuto Z-Focus. Moving the focus knob away from the rods is essential for compact rig setups with multiple accessories. The Z-Focus Extender is 4.5" long. The added distance provides clearance between an EVF and focus knob, making it much easier for the focus puller or camera operator to control the knob and see focus marks. This accessory can potentially shorten your overall rig length by three inches, moving the rig center of gravity closer to the user’s shoulder. Installation is easy. If you are using a Z-Focus that was purchased before January of 2010 or your Z-Focus gear has a hole in the middle instead of a metal pin, please call as you will need a different screw to mount the extender properly.
