DOF Docu Baseplate Kit #Z-DOF-DOCU

Our DOF Docu kit is designed for use on a tripod, dolly or Steadicam with a DOF (depth of field) 35mm lens adapter such as the Letus35, Brevis, MovieTube, P+S Tecnik, and/or RedRock Micro. The DOF adapter allows you to use Nikon, Canon or Zeiss still lenses and achieve the same shallow DOF as 35mm motion picture film.

The combination of our height adjustable Universal Baseplate and Z-Riser allows you to mount any matte box and follow focus. Our Locking lens support provides the most stable mount for a DOF adapter and eliminates any rotation or shifting when pulling focus or moving the camera rig.

When you purchase the DOF DOCU Kit you have the option of adding a Z-Balance. The Z-balance was designed for long length, front heavy, camera packages. The Z-balance attaches to the 15mm lightweight rods from your camera’s baseplate. The Z-balance will attach to the tripod plate using a 3/8 16” and ¼ 20” screw. The Z-balance should be placed in front of your camera baseplate when the center of gravity is under the lens from adding weight to the front of the camera with accessories like a depth of field adaptor, follow focus, matte box, etc. The adjustability of the Z-balance makes it possible to balance a front heavy camera on your tripod properly.

Zacuto’s baseplate kits are universal and quick-releasable; they can be used with any 15mm lightweight accessories, follow focuses & matte boxes. The kits are designed to be used with current and future models of cameras & camcorders such as the: Panasonic HVX200a, DVX100a/b, Canon XL-H1, XL2, GL2, XH-A1 Sony XDCAM EX1, EX3, SO-HVR-Z1U, VX2000, PD-150, PD-170, JVC GY-HD100U, HD200U, HD250U, JVC GY-HM100U, Silicon Imaging SI2K, RED ONE, and many more.

Letus35 Elite with back focus adjustment

The Letus35 Corporation has made a new DOF adapter: The Letus Elite. With the added back focus adjustment, you can quickly and accurately adjust the distance between the rear element of the prime lens and the ground glass (film plane). This results in accurate focus marks on the lens and sharp focus with the lens set to infinity. This is a great improvement over the Letus35 Extreme design and will allow users to fix back focus issues in the field quickly and accurately.

The Letus35 Elite also incorporates a film plane line and peg on the outside of the adapter. This makes it possible to use a tape measure as an accurate tool for finding focus and also to calibrate the distance markings on the lens correctly.

Zeiss Distagon T* 2.8/25 ZF

This wide-angle lens is the most advanced version of the legendary Distagon, a high performance lens with close focus capabilities, that was first introduced in 1961. The Distagon T* 2,8/25 is a recalculation of this design for use with modern SLRs and DSLRs using either full-frame or smaller sensors. The close-focus capability increases the versatility of this lens, providing a wider perspective than the usual macro focal lengths. Combined with a digital SLR with a 1.5 crop factor, the lens has an effective focal length of 38 mm and becomes a moderate wide-angle lens.

Zeiss Planar T* 1.4/85 ZF

This short telephoto is a classic portrait focal length which is further enhanced by the long barrel rotation for precise control of the focus point in the image. The Planar T* 1,4/85 is optimized for medium to longer distances and provides distortion-free performance, which only improves as the lens is stopped down. The fast f/1.4 aperture is very useful for creatively controlling the depth of field and the nearly circular diaphragm creates a pleasing ‘bokeh’ in the out-of-focus areas.
