The Stinger for Canon C100-C300-C500 is an in-line system best used on long shooting days. It is a balanced shoulder mounted rig. It features our C300 Studio Baseplate which attaches to the camera with 3/8” 16 and ¼” 20 screws*.

This baseplate features a pair of 15mm rods that are 12” long running through the length of the baseplate. You can quickly reposition the rods for various lens lengths by loosening the 2 levers, one on each side of the baseplate. On each side of the baseplate there is a set of 15mm lightweight holes. The side holes take 15mm female rods that are locked via an Allen screw. You can add an arm, a rod or an EVF Mount. Or you could add two short female/female rods and mount a Zwiss Plate with professional batteries off of the side when shooting on a tripod for better balance. The baseplate has standard ¼” 20 and 3/8” 16 holes on the bottom for mounting the rig onto a tripod.

The Stinger includes our Shoulder Pad with 7” rods and Z-Lite 7 lb counterbalance weight for a fully balanced in-line rig. (Want to attach batteries at the back instead? Check out our Stinger Plus.) You can slide the counterbalance weight forward and backward on the rods for custom comfort.

This rig can be used on your left or right shoulder. With the shoulder pad and counterbalance weight coming directly off of the back of the baseplate, the rig is perfectly in-line and ready to be used with one of our EVFs for traditional ENG style shooting. You can mount your EVF to the side of the rig using our EVF Standard Mount Kit. You can also use the flip out screen on the Canon EOS C300 camera when it is mounted on top of the handle and tipped down.

This rig is compatible with any 15mm accessories. The Z-Focus would be a great add on accessory if you are looking for a follow focus.

* NOTE: The screw hole pattern on the C300 Studio Baseplate is ¼” 20, 3/8” 16, 3/8” 16, 3/8” 16. To mount the C300 camera, you will use the 1/4” 20 and the first 3/8” 16 screw hole. The C300 Studio Baseplate will ship with one ¼” 20 screw and one 3/8” 16 screw. If you are mounting an Epic or Scarlet camera, you will use the last two 3/8” 16 screws.

Z-Finder EVF Pro

The Zacuto Electronic Viewfinder (EVF) is a 3.2” high resolution monitor to be used in conjunction with any Z-Finder model. The EVF is compatible with all cameras that have an HDMI output, including most DSLRs, the Panasonic AF-100, Sony F3, RED ONE, RED Scarlet and RED Epic. The EVF is compatible with the Blackmagic Camera (or other camera with no HDMI output) with use of the Blackmagic HD-SDI to HDMI mini converter. The EVF allows you to operate with your camera "in-line" with your rod system and an offset viewfinder in front of your eye. We believe, this traditional film camera and ENG camera style of shooting is the most stable and comfortable. Now we can work this way with any camera! The EVF enhances the stability of any set up, gives you better resolution and focus ability, allows you to get your eye where it most comfortably needs to be, enables low mode shooting, and shortens a shoulder mounted camera package. With an external viewfinder, you’re no longer trapped behind the back of your camera. You can have your camera on a dolly or crane or in a car or anywhere and have the EVF in your hand.

The Z-Finder EVF Pro is a complete EVF with diopter. It includes the EVF Flip model and an optical viewfinder which can snap onto the frame of the monitor and also flip up 180 degrees. The optical viewfinder contains high quality 2.5x optics with anti-fog shields and a diopter. It also includes three extender frames. The Z-Finder Extender Frames allow you to further adjust the focal point of the Z-Finder by semi-permanently stacking the frames via a snap fit onto the skirt of the Z-Finder until the LCD screen is in focus for you. You can then dial in closer with the diopter wheel.

36" Standard to Standard HDMI Cable

36" Standard to Standard (big to big) HDMI Cable. This cable has two regular HDMI heavy duty swivable cable heads. It can be set at right angles in all directions to avoid strain on the cable. EVF Standard Mount

The EVF Standard Mount is used to mount the EVF onto the Zacuto DSLR Baseplate. It includes a 4.5” F/F rod that attaches to 15mm rod hole on the side of the DSLR Baseplate and a Z-Mount Zwivel. The Z-Mount Zwivel is a 15mm to 15mm rod connector that allows you to attach a vertical rod or the included EVF pan and tilt mount to the horizontal rod coming out of the side of the DSLR Baseplate. Attached to the vertical EVF pan and tilt mount is Zacuto’s Zicro Mini. This allows you quickly release the EVF from the EVF Standard Mount with the flip of the lever. The pan and tilt allows you to adjust the angle of your EVF to the desired position.

Z-Focus Extender

The Z-Focus Extender is used to extend the distance between the focus knob and gear housing on any Zacuto Z-Focus. Moving the focus knob away from the rods is essential for compact rig setups with multiple accessories. The Z-Focus Extender is 4.5" long. The added distance provides clearance between an EVF and focus knob, making it much easier for the focus puller or camera operator to control the knob and see focus marks. This accessory can potentially shorten your overall rig length by three inches, moving the rig center of gravity closer to the user’s shoulder. Installation is easy. If you are using a Z-Focus that was purchased before January of 2010 or your Z-Focus gear has a hole in the middle instead of a metal pin, please call as you will need a different screw to mount the extender properly.
