Formatt Soft Edge Neutral Density Graduated (ND grads) filter produces a gray neutral tone and changes density gradually over the field of view. ND Grads are used to reduce light selectively, enabling more control over exposure without affecting color. In effect, ND grads allow you to capture scenes of greater contrast or dynamic range than the camera could capture without their use. ND grads are especially useful in scenes containing very brightly lit areas and simultaneously deep shadowed areas. They are used to darken the brighter areas of the scene what would normally be captured as over exposed while allowing the camera to properly expose the shadow areas. ND grads are available in densities .3, .6, and .9.
This filter is a 4x5.65 .9 ND Grad filter.
