The Zacuto Electronic Viewfinder (EVF) is a 3.2” high resolution monitor to be used in conjunction with any Z-Finder model. The EVF is compatible with all cameras that have an HDMI output, including most DSLRs, the Panasonic AF-100, Sony F3, RED ONE, RED Scarlet and RED Epic. The EVF is compatible with the Blackmagic Camera (or other camera with no HDMI output) with use of the Blackmagic HD-SDI to HDMI mini converter. The EVF allows you to operate with your camera "in-line" with your rod system and an offset viewfinder in front of your eye. We believe, this traditional film camera and ENG camera style of shooting is the most stable and comfortable. Now we can work this way with any camera! The EVF enhances the stability of any set up, gives you better resolution and focus ability, allows you to get your eye where it most comfortably needs to be, enables low mode shooting, and shortens a shoulder mounted camera package. With an external viewfinder, you’re no longer trapped behind the back of your camera. You can have your camera on a dolly or crane or in a car or anywhere and have the EVF in your hand.

The EVF Flip has a Z-Finder frame built into the unit that can be flipped open to 180 degrees. If a producer/client/director etc. wants to see into the viewfinder, you can flip it open instead of having to adjust so they can get their eye to the loupe. You can also pop off the Z-Finder and use the EVF as a monitor similar to the EVF Snap. The EVF Flip is compatible with any Z-finder.

Z-Finder Pro 2.5x

The Z-Finder Pro 2.5x is an optical viewfinder that allows DSLR cameras to have the correct form factor for video. This Z-finder will magnify the LCD screen by 2.5x and has a diopter for specific focus tuning. It cuts out any extraneous light and offers an initial point of stability by pressing your eye against our comfy, large eyecup. The Z-finder Pro 2.5x comes with a 40mm diameter Zacuto optical designed lens, anti-fog coated protective covers, and a mounting system designed for 3” LCD screens. (A 3.2” version is available.) The diopter allows you to dial in the focus to match your eye.

The 2.5x magnification is recommended in particular for users who are near sighted and may have problems seeing long distances. The Z-Finder Pro 2.5x has a diopter range of -4.75 and up (unlimited with extender frames). Users with 20/20 vision can use either magnification. It is a personal preference. This is the model we use with our electronic viewfinder packages. Your camera model is irrelevant when choosing between the 2.5x and 3x magnifications. If you are particularly far sighted (wear strong reading glasses) or are just looking for the biggest magnification possible we recommend the Z-Finder Pro 3x.

The Z-Finder Jr. is Zacuto’s most simple model optical viewfinder. It acts as a stabilizer, cuts out any extraneous light, offers 2.5x magnification, has a 40mm diameter Zacuto optical designed lens, and has multiple mounting options. The Z-Finder Jr. does not have a diopter, instead it uses Z-Finder Extender Frames to adjust the focal point in stages. The Z-Finder Jr's focal point is -4.75 and up (unlimited with extender frames).

The Z-Finder Jr. comes with two mounting options. The first is the silver forked Z-Finder Jr. Mounting Bracket shown in the product photos.* This mounting bracket must be sandwiched between a tripod plate (or similar) and the camera. An included rubber backed snap on frame attaches to the Jr. body and sits up against the camera LCD to avoid scratches or movement. The actual Z-finder Jr. is held in place with pressure from the fork of the bracket. This method is great for people who only shoot video. If you also take photos and will need to come up to the camera viewfinder, you may prefer the second method - our 3” adhesive Z-Finder Mounting Frame.** This method does not require the silver bracket or the rubber backed frame. EVF Tri Mount Kit

The EVF Tri-Mount Kit gives the option to mount the EVF in 3 different ways. It gives you the option to use the EVF Standard Mount when shooting handheld (off the side of the Zacuto DSLR Baseplate), the Extender Viewfinder Mount when shooting on a tripod or dolly, or in quick release hotshoe mount configuration (see detailed images).

The Tri-Mount includes the EVF Standard Mount as well as a 7” M/F rod and a ZUD ¼” 20. The 7” M/F rod allows you to use the EVF in an extender viewfinder position. To use the extender viewfinder mount, remove the EVF Mount from the Z-Mount Zwivel, then screw the 7” M/F rod into the EVF Mount and then slide the Z-mount Zwivel wherever you like so that you can position your EVF to your desired position.

The included ZUD ¼” 20 allows you to free the camera and EVF from your rig and mount it quickly to the hot shoe mount of your camera. In order to use the quick release hot shoe mount effectively, the hot shoe mount included with the EVF should be mounted on your camera’s hot shoe adapter. Then screw the ZUD ¼” 20 into the hot shoe mount and leave that on your camera’s hot shoe adapter. You can then quickly release or attach the EVF from either the Standard Mount or Extender Viewfinder mount with a flip of the lever. This is essential for releasing your camera as well as your EVF from your rig in a matter of seconds.

EVF Standard Mount

The EVF Standard Mount is used to mount the EVF onto the Zacuto DSLR Baseplate. It includes a 4.5” F/F rod that attaches to 15mm rod hole on the side of the DSLR Baseplate and a Z-Mount Zwivel. The Z-Mount Zwivel is a 15mm to 15mm rod connector that allows you to attach a vertical rod or the included EVF pan and tilt mount to the horizontal rod coming out of the side of the DSLR Baseplate. Attached to the vertical EVF pan and tilt mount is Zacuto’s Zicro Mini. This allows you quickly release the EVF from the EVF Standard Mount with the flip of the lever. The pan and tilt allows you to adjust the angle of your EVF to the desired position.

The EVF Rod Mount attaches your Zacuto EVF to any 15mm rod. This is perfect if you want to connect your EVF Mount to another manufacturer’s rig or to a Zacuto Universal Baseplate when using a video camera such as the AF-100, Sony F3, or FS100. The combination of our Z-mount Zwivel 360 degree connector at the corner and our tilt and pan mount at the top give you unlimited options for placing your EVF. EVF Quick Release Mount

The EVF Quick Release Mount enables you to quickly move your EVF between the Hotshoe Ball Mount (included with the EVF’s) and any 15mm arm system or rod. Simply attach the ZUD ¼ 20 to the standard ¼ 20 male screw on top of the Hotshoe Ball Mount (or any other ¼ 20 screw mount), attach the Zicro Mini to the bottom of your EVF via the ¼” 20, and slide it onto the ZUD. Turn the lever on the Zicro Mini to secure the EVF and turn again to release. This allows you to quickly move the EVF to use a different shooting technique.

FS100 Filmmaker Kit

The FS100 Filmmaker Kit is specifically designed for the Sony FS100, however it can be used with other video cameras similar to the FS100. The base of this kit is our trusty Mini Baseplate and Z-spacer. The Z-spacer raises the camera to get the lens at the correct height for use with a matte box. The Z-spacer is not necessary with other cameras like the Sony F3 and AF100.

The FS100 Filmmaker kit is a in-line shoulder mounted kit that will allow you to use the Zacuto EVF (not included) off the side with our EVF Rod Mount, like a traditional camera package. EVF Gorilla Plate Bracket

The EVF Gorilla Plate Bracket is used to mount the EVF onto any of the Zacuto Gorilla Kits that use a Gorilla Plate. It can also be used to mount the EVF onto the DSLR Baseplate. The EVF Gorilla Plate Bracket includes a "sling" bracket which mounts to the Gorilla Plate or DSLR Baseplate using the two allen screws that also attach the red thumb screw block to the plates. (If you are familiar with mounting the Z-Finder Frame on the Gorilla Plate or DSLR Baseplate, the sling bracket is mounted the same way). At the end of the sling bracket is a Z-Mount Zwivel which allows you to attach the EVF Pan and Tilt Mount (included). The Z-Mount Zwivel gives you the ability to position the EVF in a few different ways. Attached to the EVF Pan and Tilt Mount is the ZicroMini. The ZicroMini then attaches to the bottom of EVF with its 1/4" 20 screw. This allows you to quickly release your EVF frmo the mount with the flip of a lever.

Also, if you are looking to use the Zacuto Pincher (Universal mini hdmi cable restraint relief - shown in detailed pictures), it will mount onto this bracket.

Pincher

The Pincher is a universal HDMI cable restraint for DSLR's. It is the perfect solution for keeping your HDMI cable in place. It includes the pincher device and a mounting bar that will allow you to use it out of the box on the Zacuto Gorilla Plate or DSLR Baseplate. The mounting bar attaches to the Gorilla Plate or DSLR Baseplate by using the two allen screws that also attach the red thumb screw slider block to the baseplates (if you are familiar with mounting the Z-Finder Frame on the Gorilla Plate or DSLR Baseplate, the mounting bar is attached the same way).

The Pincher and the metal Z-finder frames cannot be used at the same time. The best solution to use both systems is to keep the Pincher permanently mounted and use an adhesive frame for your Z-finder. We have adhesive frames for both 3" and 3.2" LCD screens.

The Pincher has horizonal adjustment as well as vertical adjustment so you can line the Pincher up to work on multiple DSLR cameras. To adjust horizontally or vertically, loosen the red thumb screws positioned at the bottom and/or side of the Pincher and slide; once positioned, tighten the red thumb screws.

Please Note: We are still testing more cameras. We recommend the Pincher to be used with the Zacuto standard Z-HDMI cable .

EVF Cheese Stick

The EVF Cheese Stick is an accessory for the Zacuto EVF. It attaches to the EVF via two of the four accessory screw holes on the back of the unit. You can mount the Cheese Stick either on the top or bottom of the EVF in 3 different positions. Mounting the Cheese stick with the step facing out enables you to use a Zicro Mini to mount a Zamerican Arm using our z-release technology. This will prevent the Zicro Mini from spinning loose and un-threading - a common issue with standard mounting arms. All of these options give you more flexibility in mounting your EVF. The EVF Cheese Stick has 5 ¼” 20 thread holes aligned in a row which allows you to under sling the EVF in multiple positions giving you more reach for articulating arms. Scorpion

The Scorpion rig is the ultimate solution to DSLR shoulder mounted shooting with an EVF.
