EVF Cheese Stick #Z-ECS

The EVF Cheese Stick is an accessory for the Zacuto EVF. It attaches to the EVF via two of the four accessory screw holes on the back of the unit. You can mount the Cheese Stick either on the top or bottom of the EVF in 3 different positions. Mounting the Cheese stick with the step facing out enables you to use a Zicro Mini to mount a Zamerican Arm using our z-release technology. This will prevent the Zicro Mini from spinning loose and un-threading - a common issue with standard mounting arms. All of these options give you more flexibility in mounting your EVF. The EVF Cheese Stick has 5 ¼” 20 thread holes aligned in a row which allows you to under sling the EVF in multiple positions giving you more reach for articulating arms. In most cases this is extremely useful when mounting the EVF off of one of the ¼” 20 holes on the larger video cameras like the Sony F3 or Panasonic AF100.

Z-Finder EVF

The EVF is compatible with all cameras that have an HDMI output including the Panasonic AF-100, Sony F3, RED ONE, RED Scarlet and RED Epic. The EVF allows you to operate the DSLR camera or any camera with an HDMI port, with the correct form factor for video with the camera "in-line" to your rod system (the most stable way) and your eye in the Z-Finder offset. This is the way all film cameras and ENG video cameras were operated and we, at Zacuto, believe this should be the way DSLR cameras should be operated. It will enhance the stability, give you better resolution, allow you to get your eye where it most comfortably needs to be, enable low mode shooting, shorten your camera package, have your EVF in the back of a dolly or crane, detached from the rig for car shots and more.

The Z-Finder EVF is a complete EVF. It includes the EVF Snap model and an optical viewfinder which snaps onto the frame on the monitor. The optical viewfinder contains high quality 2.5x optics with anti-fog shields. The anti-fog is extremely important for reducing fog. It does not have a diopter but will include the Zacuto Z-Finder Extender Frames. The Extender Frames will get the focus close but might not be exact as you can’t dial it in with a diopter like you can with our Z-Finder Pro models.

The EVF snap is our standard EVF that has the Zacuto Z-Finder Frame built into the unit. The Z-Finder Pro or Jr. snap on and off of the monitor. You can use the EVF as a small on-board monitor or as an EVF alone.

EVF Flip

The EVF Flip has a Z-Finder frame built into the unit that can be flipped open to 180 degrees. You can also pop off the Z-Finder and use the EVF as a monitor similar to the EVF Snap. You can use the Z-Finder Pro or Jr. on this model as well. This is essential when working handheld with a producer or director so that you can show them the shot without having to have them get their eye in the viewfinder. You just flip up and they can see the shot!

Zicro Mini

The Zicro Mini is similar to our Zicromount & Zicromount III, except it is much thinner. The Zicro Mini was made specifically for the Zacuto EVF. It is included in the EVF Standard Mount, EVF Rod Mount and EVF Tri-Mount Kit. The Zicro Mini is a universal quick release mount that allows you to attach anything with a ¼” 20 screw hole to a 15mm rod. This includes Zacuto’s articulating arm series, the Zamerican Arms. The Zicro Mini is only recommended for smaller lightweight devices such as an EVF, LED light or small sound recorder like the Zoom H4N. It is not recommended for larger (6”+) monitors. For larger monitors, we recommend the Zicromount III.

Zicromount III

The ZicroMount III is used to mount any device with a ¼ 20” or a 3/816” inch (with a ¼ 20” to 3/8 16” adapter) screw hole. The Zicromount III is screwed into the bottom of the device such as a monitor and mounted to any 15mm rod, threaded articulating arm with Zacuto ZUDS or Zamerican Arm. The Zicromount III has the ability to attach to the device using two screws. The Zicromount III also has L shaped claws to prevent devices from turning and unwinding.
