The Z-Finder Pro 2.5x is another one of Zacuto’s Optical Viewfinders that allows DSLR cameras to have the correct form factor for video. It offers 2.5x focusable magnification (3x is available),a 40mm diameter Zacuto optical designed lens, an anti-fog coating protective cover, an eyecup preventing extraneous light leakage, a diopter and a field of view perfectly matched to 3” LCD screens. The diopter allows you to dial in the focus to match your eye. If you need extra focal point you can use the Z-Finder Extender Frames. The Z-Finder Pro 2.5x has a diopter range of -4.75 and up (unlimited with extender frames). These are semi-permanently stackable frames that attach to the skirt of the Z-Finder Pro and extend the Z-Finder glass further way from the LCD screen for people who are farsighted.

Striker

The Striker is light and easy to handle. It has three points of contact by having one hand on the handgrip, the gunstock in your chest and your focusing hand on the lens. The entire kit is infinitely adjustable and now made with all black rods! You can add a fourth point of contact by adding one of our Z-Finders to the kit.

The Zacuto Gorilla plate attaches to the bottom of your camera using the standard tripod screw hole. The Gorilla plate has a 15mm hole in the bottom which allows you to attach the main rod for the Striker rig. The rig can be freed from the Gorilla plate by flipping the red lever. A tripod plate can be installed on the Gorilla plate for quickly moving from handheld to tripod.

Fast Draw

The Fast Draw is a shoulder mounted handheld system that uses our DSLR baseplate. It comes with all black rods. This kit works on any DSLR camera with or without battery grips as it is infinitely adjustable in height. The baseplate attaches to your tripod plate using the standard tripod plate screws, (2) ¼ 20” and (1) 3/8 16”. Your camera can also be quickly released from the rig by turning the red knob then pulling up on your camera. The camera quick release plate stays mounted to your camera so you can quickly switch between using the camera as part of a rig or on its own. You can easily add the optional Z-Finder Pro by attaching the Z-Finder Mounting Frame (included with the Z-Finder Pro) to the camera quick release plate using two thumb screws.

Cross Fire

The Cross Fire is a unique kit as it is the Single Action kit and Striker kit combined. It comes with all block rods. The Z-Finder Jr. is Zacuto’s most simple model optical viewfinder. It acts as a stabilizer, cuts out any extraneous light, offers 2.5x magnification, has a 40mm diameter Zacuto optical designed lens, and has multiple mounting options. The Z-Finder Jr. does not have a diopter, instead it uses Z-Finder Extender Frames to adjust the focal point in stages. The Z-Finder Jr's focal point is -4.75 and up (unlimited with extender frames).

The Z-Finder Jr. comes with two mounting options. The first is the silver forked Z-Finder Jr. Mounting Bracket shown in the product photos.* This mounting bracket must be sandwiched between a tripod plate (or similar) and the camera. An included rubber backed snap on frame attaches to the Jr. body and sits up against the camera LCD to avoid scratches or movement. The actual Z-finder Jr. is held in place with pressure from the fork of the bracket. This method is great for people who only shoot video. If you also take photos and will need to come up to the camera viewfinder, you may prefer the second method - our 3” adhesive Z-Finder Mounting Frame.** This method does not require the silver bracket or the rubber backed frame. The Adhesive Frame attaches directly to the camera LCD and the Z-finder can pop on and off that frame. This method will work for all 3” LCD screens.

Z-Finder Pro 3x

The Z-Finder Pro 3x is an optical viewfinder that allows DSLR cameras to have the correct form factor for video. This Z-finder will magnify the LCD screen by 3x and has a diopter for specific focus tuning. It cuts out any extraneous light and offers an initial point of stability by pressing your eye against our comfy, large eyecup. The Z-finder Pro 3x comes with a 40mm diameter Zacuto optical designed lens, anti-fog coated protective covers, and a mounting system designed for 3” LCD screens. (A 3.2” version is available.) The diopter allows you to dial in the focus to match your eye.

The 3x magnification is recommended in particular for users who are farsighted and may have problems seeing up close. If you wear strong reading glasses this is the model for you! The Z-Finder Pro 3x has a diopter range of -2.75 and up (unlimited with extender frames). Users with 20/20 vision can use either magnification. It is a personal preference. Your camera model is irrelevant when choosing between the 2.5x and 3x magnifications. If you are particularly nearsighted and have problems seeing distances or are just looking for a smaller magnification we recommend the Z-Finder Pro 2.5x. Farsighted users can still use the 2.5x model with the addition of the included Extender Frames.

Gorilla Plate

The Gorilla Plate is used in both of our Gorilla Kits (Striker and Target Shooter) and must be used with the Z-Finder Pro. The Z-Finder V2 will also work with this plate! You must also purchase a frame to mount your V2 onto the Gorilla Plate. The Gorilla plate attaches to your camera using the standard tripod screw hole. You can also mount your tripod plate underneath the Gorilla plate so you can quickly go from handheld to tripod use. For mounting the Gorilla plate to the tripod, it has (2) ¼ 20” screw holes and a locking pin hole. The Z-Finder frame attaches to the Gorilla plate using two thumb screws. The thumb screws and slider are not included with the Gorilla Plate; they are included with the Z-Finder Frames. The frame can be removed by loosening the thumb screws and pulling up on the frame.

Z-Finder Extender Frames

The Z-Finder Extender Frames allow you to further adjust the focal point of the Z-Finder by semi-permanently stacking the frames via a snap fit on to the skirt of the Z-Finder until the LCD screen is in focus for you. This is primarily for people who are farsighted or who wear reading glasses. This item includes 4 extender frames; all 4 extender frames will not be needed for everyone. It is best to test how many frames you need by stacking one at a time until the LCD is in focus for you. In order for the Extender Frames to lock properly, a new skirt is needed on the Z-Finder.

DSLR Baseplate

Your Zacuto DSLR Base Plate is a highly configurable base plate which is adjustable to accommodate tall and short body cameras and cameras with battery grips. It also has mounting points to attach just about anything. It comes with 2 black 3.5" rods.

The DSLR Base Plate can accommodate 15mm rods on all 4 sides. On the front are 2 levels for rods. The top is for mounting follow focuses, matte boxes, zoom/focus motors and lens support if space allows. The bottom rods are primarily used for lens support and single or double hand grips. These rods can be locked via allen screw so as to not come loose if using only one side for a single hand grip. The rear rod holes are for rod extensions to support battery power, wireless plates, monitors and numerous other accessories that you may need when in a tripod configuration. The rod holes on the left and right sides are for mounting the gunstock and the offset shoulder pad and counterweight for hand held use. Also mounted on these side rods can be a top handle, monitor arms and the cage which would use both sides at the same time.

On the bottom of the DSLR Base plate are your standard ¼ 20 and 3/8 16 mounting holes for tripods, mono pods, steadicams, etc. The top plate is a quick release plate that with a twist of the red knob lifts straight up and off separating your DSLR with the Z-finder attached, from the rest of your rig. The red knob also gives you left/right movement to adjust the lens position. On the front of the base plate between the rods are 2 allen screws that are used to adjust the top plate vertically. The vertical adjustment is to adjust for different camera body sizes and maintain the proper lens height.

The Z-Finder frame attaches to the Gorilla plate with two thumb screws; the Gorilla plate is attached to the bottom of your camera. The frame has a rubber coating on the end which stays against the LCD screen with pressure.. The connection between the Z-Finder and frame is a snap fit. The Z-Finder snaps into the frame and can quickly snap off for going between video and photos. To release the frame from your camera, you must un-do the thumb screws and slide the frame off. This frame is used on the taller body cameras such as the Canon 1D Mark IV and Nikon D3s with 3" screens.

Gorilla Plate Adapter

The Gorilla Plate Adapter centers the tripod holes on the bottom of the gorilla plate. The Gorilla Plate Adapter is used in conjunction with the Zacuto Gorilla Plate. The Gorilla Plate adapter is needed to center the lens and camera between the rods if you are using a Z-Finder Pro with another manufacturer's rod support system supporting follow focuses and matte boxes.

Note: A height adjustable matte box is needed if using a matte box with the Gorilla plate on another manufactures plate system unless their plate system is height adjustable like the Zacuto DSLR Baseplate.

The Gorilla Plate Adapter comes with a longer 1/4 20" screw that will replace the smaller 1/4 20" screw that comes with the Gorilla Plate. You will need to take your screw out and use the longer one provided with the adapter to attach your camera to the plate.

The anti-fog protective covers offer anti-fog and protection for your Z-Finder Pro and V2 lens. These covers are expendable* as customers may lose, scratch or damage these covers over time. They are meant to give you anti-fog and to help protect the actual lens on the Z-Finder. If your Z-Finder Pro and V2 did not ship with the anti-fog protective covers then you will need the Anti-Fog Protective Cover Upgrade Kit (pack of 3 with lens cap and eyecup) in order for them to work as the lens cap is slightly different than the one you have now.
